We are going to be at Disney World October 12 - 17. Then we are doing on the Disney Dream. They are offering the dining plan: 9/30–10/4 and 10/19–11/11, but the dates we are there are not offered. Anyone know what is going on during that time? I'm concerned about some big event that is going to make the crowds unbearable.

Columbus Day weekend???? Sometimes it winds up busy....

Is that weekend Columbus Day weekend? I thought it was the weekend prior. My kids have the week of Oct. 15th off and I was sure that it was not Columus Day weekend, but I could be wrong.

Columbus Day is October 8.

So why would the week of the 13th - 17th be blackout for dining?

Canadian Thanksgiving takes place October 13-15... maybe it's all of us wacky Canadians coming down to WDW!:mickey:

Does anyone know if there are any other specials during that time, at least for the room if not for the dining plan?

Really? I thought that Canadian Thanksgiving was the second Monday in October and was always the same day as Columbus Day in the US.

Here in Eastern NC - my last kiddo left in public schools has Oct. 5-8th off. NOW my College students have Oct 15-19 off.

The only thing I can find going on then if F&W. The current room only discounts run through September 29th and need to be booked by August 14th. If they are going to offer October room only you might want to start looking mid-August.

If you haven't booked yet I would suggest booking through our INTERCOT sponsor magical Journeys. If something does open up, they will switch your reservation over to the special rate (based on availability).
