Hello everyone! I was just wondering about dvc points. How hard would it be to book your points only 1-2 months away from your travel dates? Say I had 200 points and wanted to book 9 nights at my dvc. If I wanted to travel in July and it was may or June , would it be are to get availability for dvc that close? Thanks !,:mickey:

The only I can think of is, you have a time limit available to "bank" your unused points. If you wait only two months out to use your points and cannot get a room for that many nights or for whatever reason can't use those points then you lose them. So your out for points you paid for and don't get a vacation. That would be a bummer.

You may not get your home resort or a preferred resort but 99.99% of the time there is availability at Saratoga Springs. I just put in a few random dates within the next months or so and it came up each time.

Two years ago we had to make changes to our plans when my husband got a job. We got 9 nights at Old Key West 4 weeks before .... no problem.

That shouldn't be a problem unless its Christmas week, Easter week, 4th of July, etc.

We did a quicky, last minute trip over memorial day weekend.. We were able to book SSR (not our preferred choice) with no problems. There were several split stay options available also.

We booked 5 weeks out for 8 nights at Animal Kingdom Villas the end of June. We actually got the first 6 nights right away and then got the last 2 off the waitlist a couple weeks later (we were at SSR for those two nights originally).

Wow, that's great that it has worked out for so many people, however, as a long time member I wouldn't recommend anyone buying DVC points with the idea of often using them at the last minute in mind.
