Can anyone describe the Carribean ports where the Disney Fantasy docks? Are there things to do & see within walking distance? Or do you need to book shore excursions?

I once went on another cruise line to the Cayman Islands and we were able to shop, snorkle, and see some glass-blowing all within walking distance of the ship, but I don't know if Disney docks in the same place.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Fantasy hits several Caribbean ports.

On the Eastern cruises, depending on the particular itinerary, she visits St. Martin, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay, or San Juan, St. Thomas and Castaway.

On the Western, she visits Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Castaway.

There is plenty to do and explore within walking distance of the docks in all these ports, or you can simply do your own thing - - rent a moped, hire a local tour guide, hail a taxi.

You can find descriptions of all the ports in the DCL website.

The one thing I do remember about the Caymans is you docked about 300 yards offshore due to some coral reefs. However, there were boats running constantly so you never waited more than a minute or two for a boat.

We swam with dolphins in Cozumel, which was worth every penny of the $160 cost per person.

We also felt safe walking anywhere on our excursions. Everyone spoke English and everyone was friendly, but we stayed in the tourist areas.
