Ap expiration question

We are going in October 2012. Again, in October 2013...but unsure of the dates in 2013.

If we buy AP's...will the expiration date be a specific date...or would it just expire on October 31st?

Here's a part 2 to the question:

If I bought an AP now...today....because prices will be going up....can I wait to use it in October 2013...and then it would expire in October 2014?

1) the AP will expire 365 days from the date of activation (not the date of purchase). So if you activated the AP on October 12, 2012, it will be good through October 12, 2013. And yes, that's actually 366 days, but that's the way they do it.

2) if you buy an AP online today, you are only buying a voucher, not the actual AP. When you get to WDW, you need to take the voucher to guest relations, where they will exchange it for the actual AP, and activate it. Vouchers do not expire, so yes, you can buy one now and hold on to it until October of 2013 before you use it. Just don't lose track of it, as it cannot be replaced.

Keep in mind that, if you have an existing Annual Pass and renew it instead of buying a new Annual Pass, the clock on your renewal starts ticking immediately upon the end date of your old pass and, in this case, you don't get the "blank" space between the end of an old pass and the start of a new one.
