we were wondering how busy it normally is in the first week in june compared to september?

The first week of June will be busier than much of September. But, it won't be summer crazy, since schools are just starting to get out.

We have gone in June many times and it's very busy, but manageable. We have our system down, so crowds don't bother us !!!

We love that week. Our kids are already out of school by then but a lot of the country is not. It's busier than September but not as bad as most of the summer. Be aware of gay days and star wars weekends during that week.

We have been the first week of June (spilling into the second week in June) a few times now and have always had a great time. It's a bit busy, but not summer busy yet. Many schools are still in session. That early in June the heat has also not really kicked in yet. It's hot, but not hot like you'll find later in the summer.

We were there the first full week in June both in 2008 and 2011 and had entirely different experiences. In 2008 the crowds were what I would call light to moderate. No long wait times, paths easy to navigate, the usual very light crowds during the morning and increasing in late morning through the afternoon.

Last year we were surprised by the crowds, and I'm talking during the week, not for Star Wars Weekends. Mobs of people poured in the MK and Hollywood Studios right at opening. Soarin' and Space Mountain had wait times of 2 hours, and at one point It's a Small World was at 35 minutes. There was even a ground-level queue for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority.

We were told that the blackout dates for Florida resident Annual Passes started the following week, and lots of families were trying to get a trip in before the blackout. I don't think that was the only reason, but I wanted to let you know about our two different trips to prepare for either possibility.

I'm curious to see how our trip pans out...we're going June 3 - June 6 (Sun - Wed) Just a quick no-kids trip. I didn't know about the gay days or Star Wars so I'm a bit nervous. BUT...my 40th birthday is June 5 which is the point of our trip so I couldn't move days anyway so we'll just deal with it! I'm more interested in the weather to be honest....

I think you should be OK since your trip is earlier in the week -- it may get more crowded later that week. I realized something after I posted about our two June trips -- when we went in 2008, the Star Wars weekends went all the way until the end of June. In 2011 they had changed the dates to May, ending on June 10 (the week we were there). I'm now sure that had an effect on crowds.

You will see alot of families who start their vacations that week because they are so ready to get out of school. Gay Days are usually that week but you can get on their website and look at the schedule to avoid the crowd. They usually choose one park per day. Star Wars Weekends will effect the parks as well but especially DHS. All this said it is still manageable and typically no worse than anytime in June July or August.
