Apr. 7, 2005 – It was announced that Brooke Tansley, who started her run as Belle in Disney’s Broadway musical “Beauty and the Beast” on Sept. 14, 2004, and was extended through May 1st, has been extended again through Sept. 18, 2005.
Apr. 7, 2006 – WDW’s biggest ride yet, “Expedition Everest,” a 2-story, roller coaster opened in Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Florida.
Apr. 7, 2006 – The 3rd “Hannah Montana” episode “She’s A Super Sneak” aired on the Disney Channel.
Apr. 7, 2008 – The United States Air Force “Thunderbirds” flew over WDW.
Apr. 7, 2008 – In a public ceremony, Jackie Autry, wife of the late Gene Autry (“The Singing Cowboy”) accepted a star on the Anaheim Orange County Walk of Stars in honor of her husband and Orange County’s baseball pioneer. Actor and singer-songwriter Gene Autry was the 6th honoree on the Anaheim 10C Walk of Stars (Walt Disney was the first) and is recognized for his contributions to baseball and professional sports in Orange County. Autry once owned the California Angels and later sold a quarter share of the team to The Walt Disney Co.
Apr. 7, 2009 – Actress Faith Prince joined the cast of Broadway’s “The Little Mermaid.”
Apr. 7, 2009 – The first 3 volumes of Disney Animation Collection were released on DVD.
Apr. 7, 2009 – Disney’s Animal Kingdom began offering a new meal program called “Picnic in the Park.”
Apr. 7, 2010 – A special exhibition of “Peter Pan” began being showcased at the Walt Disney Family Museum in San Francisco, Ca. (Ran through June 27th)
Apr. 7, 2011 – An official breaking ground ceremony took place in China for the Shanghai Disney Resort.
