DS#3 is almost home. He's been deployed in Afghanistan for the past year (760th EOD). They were supposed to be home 2 weeks ago, but the recent incident over there caused a delay in getting transport out. He was in Turkey last night and should be back in the States tonight.

Steve, when your son gets home, after the hugs are done please give him a hardy handshake and salute from me for his service. EOD in Afghanistan is risky business, and he deserves sincere admiration and respect from all of us.

Enjoy every minute of his time home.

Thanks for all the well-wishes.

Unfortunately, we don't get to see him for awhile. He's posted in upstate NY and we're in way out West in Oregon. The good news is the come September, they're being transferred to Ft. Lewis, WA which is less than 2 hours from our house.

EOD in Afghanistan is risky business

Indeed it is. Of the 40 guys in his unit, 6 were injured seriously enough to be sent home. His team was actually blown up twice. Fortunately, their armored vehicle saved their lives, but no one came through unscathed.

But just knowing that after more than a year over there, he's finally back on US soil (or will be very shortly) is a great relief to this daddy.

Woo hoo! Back on US soil is certainly something to celebrate. After you get done with the hugs and tears please tell him thank you from this Marine mom for his service and dedication.

Have you checked out the photos from Maine Troop Greeters yet? You can look at the arrival dates and catch a glimpse of his first steps back in the US. (Provided that was his entry point.)
