Mar. 26, 1996 – The EP album “Songs From The Aristocats” was released on Walt Disney Records. It features a cover version of “Ev’rybody Wants to Be a Cat” performed by Brian Setzer. Also released on this day was “Bibbidi Bobbidi Bach” on Delos Records. The CD featured Disney tunes in the style of great classical composers.
Mar. 26, 1999 – Disney’s animated film “Doug’s 1st Movie” along with the Donald Duck cartoon “Donald’s Dynamite: Opera Box” were released.
Mar. 26, 2000 – “You’ll Be In My Heart” written and performed by Phil Collins, from the Disney feature “Tarzan” won an Oscar at the 72nd Annual Academy Awards.
Mar. 26, 2001 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired the special “South Pacific” on ABC-TV.
Mar. 26, 2001 – The “SpectroMagic” Parade returned to the Magic Kingdom in WDW.
Mar. 26, 2002 – The hour-long Disney TV series “The Court” began airing on ABC-TV. (Ended Apr. 9, 2002)
Mar. 26, 2003 – The film “Wonders of China” ended its run at Epcot. It would be replaced with “Reflections of China.”
Mar. 26, 2004 – The Dixon Middle School Stage Band (from Jacksonville, N.C.) performed at the Magic Kingdom in Tomorrowland as part of Disney World’s Magic Music Celebration.
Mar. 26, 2004 – An article titled “Hats off to Davy,” ‘Fess Parker” (by Susan Wloszczyna) appeared in USA Today. Parker was best known for his role of Davy Crockett in the Disneyland TV series.
Mar. 26, 2004 – Roy Disney gave a speech to the Council of Institutional Investors in Washington, D.C. He discussed the ongoing situation at the Walt Disney Co. and the relationship between the owners of public companies and their stewards.
