AFTER I did a cruise, I found out that I could have rented an international phone through AAA. If you're a member, you might want to look into this option.

If you NEED to use a phone, they are available, albeit for a price. But again, if you NEED to use it... We didn't.. The rates are just crazy... Not sure you could plan accurately with a prepaid card. Frankly, I'd be surprised if it was any cheaper than just using your own phone.

Most, if not all, ships have cell towers on them that will work with probably all the major carriers. You might be roaming, but your phone should work.
