The menu at Cali Grill is divided into 4 sections: Brick Oven Fired Flatbreads, Sushi, First Course & Main Course.

We are on the dining plan, which includes a drink, entree and dessert. Is the section labeled "Main Course" the only section that is considered an entree as far as the dining plan in concerned? Can we order from one of the other 3 sections and count it as an entree. My DS 15 will probably want sushi or a flatbread for his entree?

I'm sure that we will order an appetizer in addition to our entree, and realize that we will have to pay for that in addition to our "dining plan" meal.

I have included a copy of the menu below for reference.

Only the things listed under Main Course count as entree selections. The others are all considered appetizers. You can ask to see if they will allow an appetizer selection to count as entree, but my experience at California Grill is that they won't do it. Main Course only, and you can pay out of pocket to add on appetizers (and some are well worth it). That menu is subject to change, by the way, and probably won't be the same one when you get there. California Grill is one of the WDW restaurants that changes the menu frequently to reflect seasonal availability of fresh ingredients.

When we ate there, it was only the Main Course items that counted as "entrees".

Save yourself some credits and pay for DS's flatbread out of pocket.

To be honest, when we were there we didn't consider CA Grill a good use of 2 TS credits. It was a good meal and good experience, but still a bit too loud and bright for us. I would have preferred we paid OOP and then used the credits elsewhere.

Only the dishes listed in Entrees count.

However, you would be remiss to try the Pork with the polenta at least once in your life. I fantasize about it.
