I have been meaning to post a trip report from our October trip but life kept getting in the way. Since it has been so long, I am just highlighting some of the new things we tried on this trip.

The Custom Cake

October was my son's 6th birthday. Birthday cakes tend to be a big deal in my family so we decided to order a custom cake while we were there. It is not hard to order a cake but they can be expensive and are not available everywhere. Since my daughter requested a princess meal, we decided to try 1900 Park Fare for dinner.

This allowed us to order a cake from the Grand Floridian Bakery. I called and left a message for Pat at the Grand Floridian Bakery. She called back within 2 days. I knew I didn't want to go super fancy (no fondant) and wanted a smaller cake with Mickey on it. I order the basic level cake with butter cream. Pat suggested bright blue as the frosting color. I was a bit nervous paying $55 for a cake that I had never seen but it turned out very nice and was delicious.

Two more things on the cake. Since we had at at 1900 Park Fare and used our TIW card the mandatory tip was added to the cake, but we also got our TIW discount on it, so it balanced out. Also you are supposed to supply your own matches/lighter to light the candle. Our server took pity on us and found some matches so we could light the cake.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

My daughter wanted to get her first BBB makeover and I noticed that knight makeovers were available for boys, so I signed my son up. The Knight makeover was a very good deal. For $14.95, he received a shield, a sword and a hair style.

The gel and glitter they used in his hair was a bit goopy and did take longer to dry than the 1 hour his fairy god mother in training recommended. Overall it was a fun experience and he still loves the shield and sword, but I doubt I could convince him to do it again. :D

My daughter adored her princess makeover. I choose to buy her dress ahead of time at the Disney Store because I could get a much better price than in the parks.

She choose the hair, make up, and nails package. She had an incredible fairy god mother in training who was a musical theater major and sang Disney movie tunes the whole time. It was a great experience. My daughter loved her "reveal" so much, that all her home makeovers now end with one. :cloud9:

Les Chefs de France & Remy

We did lunch at Les Chefs de France. The food was decent. My mom and husband both enjoyed their burgers. My picky kids were happy with the chicken strips and the plain pasta. I had the fixed menu-French Onion soup, Mac & Cheese and finished with a yummy Creme Brulee.

However the highlight of the meal was when Remy came to the table. I had not told my family and everyone was surprised. It was truly a special moment when the waiter lifted the cover and they saw Remy sitting there. :)

Oh my gosh, the kids look great! They are adorable, Cindy. I'm glad you convinced your son to do it this once. The cake came out great, too. Looks delicious! And the addition of Remy to your Chefs meal adds a fun touch. Sounds like a wonderful time. Thanks for reporting!

Thank you both.

Cute pictures, the cake was very nice...not sure I'd pay $55 but I guess while at Disney you'd do it

I don't know if I would pay that again either, but it was fun to do once. :)

I did the middle package- hair, makeup and nails. It was $54.95. I bought her dress at the Disney Store online when they were doing one of their 25% sales. It cost about $30 and she plays with the all the time, so it was worth the cost over the cheaper dresses you can get at Target and Walmart..
