Jan. 2, 2006 – The Disneyland Resort float, titled “The Most Magical Celebration on Earth” appeared in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, Ca.
Jan. 2, 2007 – The “Finding Nemo: The Musical” stage show debuted in Disney’s Animal Kingdom at WDW.
Jan. 2, 2007 – The “Dinner with an Imagineer” returned to the WDW Resort at the Wilderness Lodge’s Artist Point Restaurant.
Jan. 2, 2008 – Walt Disney Co. artist and Disney Legend, Joyce Carlson, and known for her work on “Lady and the Tramp,” and the dolls in “It’s a Small World” attractions, passed away at her home in Orlando, Fl.
Jan. 2, 2008 – Sadly on this day, Brice Harvey Mack, who painted backgrounds for such classic Disney features as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and “Pinocchio,” passed away in Hollywood, Ca. at the age of 90. Spanning the’30s, ‘40s and ‘50s, Mack’s career at Disney also included work on “Fantasia,” “Cinderella,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “Peter Pan,” “Song of the South,” and “Lady and the Tramp,” in addition to the Oscar-winning 1942 short film “Lend a Paw.” Mack also worked as a writer in the story department at Disney and created illustrations for children’s books based on the studio’s films.
Jan. 2, 2009 – Opening night of “Disney on Ice,” 100 Years of Magic” began at 7 p.m. at the First Arena in Elmira, N.Y.
Jan. 2, 2010 – Disney’s Broadway hit “The Lion King” made a stop at the Mandalay Bay Theater in Las Vegas, Nv. (Performed thru Feb. 28, 2010)
Jan. 2, 2010 – The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra performed a concert of Symphonic arrangements from the Walt Disney Studio archives at Powell Symphony Hall in Grand Center.
Jan. 2, 2010 – It was reported The United Way of Palm Beach County, Fl. Was offering a program in which volunteers can earn a day at a Disney park.
Jan. 2, 2010 – Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram visited the Disneyland Resort. (Later that week, his team the Alabama Crimson Tide would win the college football’s National Championship at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Ca.
