Any ideas what type of discounts might be offered in October (last two weeks) and what they might be? Speculations welcome!

I've been the last week in Oct for the last 3 years. Last year was 40% Deluxe. The two years before that was $150 and $130/night respectively at The Dolphin.

Thanks Scar! I think I will go ahead and book it with MJ and hope for the best.

FYI, MJ doesn't book Swan and Dolphin.

The bounceback offer in room 2 weeks ago was 35% off villas but the 2nd and 3rd week was a blackout in Oct 2012.

That is not good news. Is there a reason those weeks were blacked out?

We have gone the very last week in Oct. for the past 4 years. We had a pin code for a room discount and free dining was also offered. One of my friends went in 2010 around Oct. 12th and was not able to get a discount. Other friends went this past Oct. around the 17th and also were not able to get a discount.

Just now opened a 30% pin offer for October. Too bad our plans/hopes are for September now! But I'm guessing with the slow season a 40% wil jump right out at me.

October is prime convention time at WDW. Depending on the way the dates fall, either the 2nd or 3rd week of October will see WDW playing host to the largest IT conference on the planet. It's centered at the Dolphin/Swan, but all the Epcot resorts are involved, and blocks of rooms are reserved at nearly all the resorts at all levels.

The last time I attended, there were over 10,000 attendees plus vendors and staff. That's a lot of hotel rooms. No reason for Disney to offer room discounts at that time.

On the positive side, even with all those rooms booked, the parks are pretty empty.

-My original cost estimate from the WDW site for room-only POFQ for a week was $1,400 (+/-).

-When Melissa at MJ initially booked the room, it was an AAA rate at $1,227. I am not an AAA member so it would have been another $85 to join and get the rate.

-I received a PIN code this week and passed it to Melissa at MJ. I am down to $1,155 with this recent offer.

Has anyone else received a pin code for this coming October? And what was the offer. And did it come just after ordering the Disney vacation planning DVD?

4 nights at Pop Century for ICOT15 for $340 with a pin code (and thank you to Wendy at Magical Journeys for booking it!) I haven't ordered a planning DVD since January or February 2011. It's hard to really know what triggers getting a pin code offer, but we ended up saving about $150 off the rack rate.

It was a 30% off offer. The mailing we received only talked about rates for Sunday-Thursday nights, but there were also discounted rates for Friday-Saturday nights. Had to be booked by 01-11-2012.

Thanks for all the great information everyone. I know October is still a long way off, but we're getting super excited for our trip and I'm interested in October deals as well!

I know! Right??
When I received the mail from the Mouse it specifically noted that I had already booked a trip for October. Perhaps maybe, just maybe, they are sending pin codes to convince we POFQ's to move up to AKL's instead.
It did make me feel super special to get a pin code. :cloud9:
