My son is in the hospital with a ruptured spleen. He went to Urgent Care this morning and was promptly taken by ambulance to the hospital. (Sirens blaring) He has been admitted for several days observations. If the bleeding doesn't stop he will require surgery. His blood count has gotten so low that he is now receiving 2 units of blood. He is lucky he didn't bleed out. Pixie dust would be appreciated.

I just got home from the hospital. The doctors decided that while his blood count was below normal it was not low enough for a transfusion. That is good news. He sent me home and I grudgingly complied. Thank you for all the prayers and pixie dust.

Yes, Ed, this is my Marine son.

How can I ever say thank you. It looks like my DS is on the road to recovery. The last 2 blood draws shows improvement in his hemoglobin. His surgeon must be be thinking that surgery won't be needed because he was allowed to order solid food for dinner. After 2 days of clear liquids a crummy tasting quesadilla was heaven. He has to take it easy for a good long while. I have cried scared, worried tears today and tears of relief. I don't like this roller coaster. Couldn't have made it without you all.

Thank you - thank you - thank you!!!!

DS came home for 2 days and starting bleeding again. We rushed back to the hospital where he will stay until Wednesday, maybe longer. I had to leave him early today because I needed to finish Christmas shopping. (Still haven't decorated the tree.) The surgeon is treating him very conservatively in hopes that he won't need to have his spleen removed. Bummer.

Ds is finally home! The good news is that even though he had a second bleed and his hemoglobin got down to 8.3 he stabilized within 24 hours. No spleenectomy or blood transfusions. It is a blessing.

Thank you all for your prayers and pixie dust. When I stop to think that my son was so close to death I can hardly breathe. Not sure what I would have done without your support.

Marry Christmas. :rocks:

I am glad that your DS is home for the holidays.

I can totally relate right now. There are a few of us with pixie dust requests. The power of prayer is amazing.

Merry Christmas and continued pixie dust and prayers.
