Those of you who have done this...
was it enjoyable for you and your family? I have three girls who I think would really get a kick out of this, but money is tight. I just don't know if it would be worth it for us as a family to spend that kind of dough on this experience or not... We have talked about it before and everyone said it would be cool, but I am not sure. Talk to me!

I can only relate our tale. We have 2 boys and went for the first trip when they were 11 and 15. I try for every 2 to 3 years now (5 down). Both came for our 30 the anniversary trip and still found enough fun stuff.

It is expensive, I used a Disney travel agent to get the best prices. (They can watch for sales from Disney and get them for you). If you read this board a lot you can see what money savers work for you and if the trip would WOW! you.

Plan and study, then you will know you are getting the best deal and the most out of your trip.

We really enjoyed it when we did it. None of us have ever surfed before. DS was about 9 and he had a great time.

I think there were about 12 of us. It's a small group so you get to ride a lot of waves. The first part was spent showing you how to get up on your board and then they put you in the water.

You go in 2 at a time and the instructor holds your board until the correct time. You have a choice of either a big or small wave. I always chose the small wave, although I must say even that one seemed large. I got up on my second try.

I went every chance I had but some people were sitting their turns out. It is tiring, you've got to paddle over to the instructor and then you walk from the end of the pool back up to the stairway carrying your board. Not part of everyone's daily routine.

If I remember you have to get there around 6:30 am and it goes for almost 3 hours. When it's over they escort you back to the gate to enter in like everyone else.

There are photopass photographers all over, so you get some really good pictures.

Hope this helps.
