Oct. 2, 1971 – The “Liberty Square Riverboat opened at WDW.
Oct. 2, 1971 – The “Admiral Joe Fowler Riverboat” attraction opened in Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom.
Oct. 2, 1977 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired the 2-hour episode “The Treasure of Matecumbe” on NBC-TV.
Oct. 2, 1981 – The “Disney World Is Your World” show debuted on Tomorrowland Stage in the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Oct. 2, 1982 – The CBS TV series “Walt Disney” aired part-2 of the 1979 movie “The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again,” starring Tim Conway and Don Knotts.
Oct. 2, 1984 – Actor John Morris, best known for his role of Andy Davis in the films “Toy Story,” “Toy Story 2,” and “Toy Story 3,” was born in N.Y.C.
Oct. 2, 1987 - Disney Dollars, which first came in one and five dollar bills, debuted as the "official currency" of the Walt Disney World Resort.
Oct. 2, 1989 – The serial “Teen Angel Returns” began airing on the Mickey Mouse Club on The Disney Channel. (Ended Oct. 27, 1989)
Oct. 2, 1992 – Disney’s live-action film “The Mighty Ducks” was released in theaters.
Oct. 2, 1992 – WDW had its official grand opening for its “Splash Mountain” attraction in the Magic Kingdom although it has been running since July 17th.
