Does anyone know what the cost to do this is now? We've never done it but we bought the carragies to put the pearl in and are going to surprise my aunt w/ it on her 1st visit. Thanks.

We haven't done it in a while, but the price is somewhere around $15.

We've gotten DD's a pearl each time we go and DH and DD just came back from WDW. The cost was $15.

Is this worth it? I have always been intrigued by it, but was fearful of the price. To know it is only $15 makes me reconsider, but, then again, what will I do with a pearl?

Yes, that's where the real money comes in. They sell a number of settings in which you can have your pearl placed.

My 8DD picked an oyster with two pearls in it. I can still hear the store associate now..."You so luuucky"! We had a necklace made out of them right there. It was expensive to have them mounted but DD treasures it and :girl:we still joke about the store associate today....You So Luuucky.....!

I've decided that DH is getting this for me in our trip in 9 days! Its for my birthday and it's also my birthstone!

Can anyone tell me if the settings are real or not and a range of prices?

I bought mine off line. It’s a carriage that holds the pearl. They are really pretty. So it will become "Cindrelle's carriage" because my pearl came from WDW. :)

I just got back on monday. My son and Fiance did it. The settings start at $20 and go up from there. They have sterling silver and gold. You can get it placed in ear rings, rings, ect.... So you have many choices

Do they have children's sized settings?

They do have settings that will work for a child. My dd is 6, we set her pearl in a dainty flower setting and purchased a 16 inch chain. It fits her very well.

Is it $15 for the pearl and then $20 additional for the setting? We did this at an arts and craft show and it cost $25 for the carriage and the pearl altogether. I was just wondering if it was similar in price.

We started the tradition of letting DD pick a pearl when she was 3. Every year it is what she looks forward to. We said by the time she's married, she can get them made into a bracelet, necklace... whatever. Some are pink pearls some are white and we have a silver one too.

7 years later, we had another DD, and she has started her pearl collection now!

This could get pricey :)
