What the hey? Let’s just go to Disneyworld – August 14-24, 2011

Awesome cast of characters:
Me (Jennifer )
Brian (My partner in crime for 38 of my 42 years – CanadianWDWFan)
Harry (Just turned 13, is growing like a weed and is ALWAYS hungry)
Euan (7 years old and loves all things Disney, especially Mickey)

We pulled into the front drive, where we were assisted with our luggage, and then Brian and the boys went inside to check in, and I went to park the car. I was welcomed no fewer than 5 times between the parking lot and locating my family over at the check-in desk. In fact, I was escorted to them by a CM working the front door. Turns out she was raised in Toronto, but now lives in the States. I found my family who were just finishing up, and we were on our way to our room. Very thoughtfully, they saved us a room with bunk beds, which I am sure many families would really appreciate …. Ours, not so much. The boys will not sleep in bunk beds, and also our 6’2’ 13 year old does not fit into them. So, I went back to the front desk and explained that while I appreciate the bunk beds, we needed a room with two regular beds in it. There was no problem accommodating my request (as I had not requested bunk beds), and we were reassigned to a lovely room (on the second floor at the end of the furthest hallway, BUT only 2 doors down from the laundry! Score! ) overlooking the savannah and Kidani. It was a beautiful room with two beds. Perfect!

We unpacked and organized our stuff, and decided to head out to the Walmart before swimming in order to pick up some sandwich stuff and veggies and beer. Besides, the afternoon thunderstorm was in full force! Got that done, and then changed and headed down to the pool for a bit before cleaning up and heading over to Sanaa for our early dinner reservation. Sanaa was fabulous, and we had a table right up next to the window …. And we could actually see the balcony of our room! The boys thought that was very funny, and they enjoyed watching the animals whilst we ate, especially Rudolph (I think that was his name) the Crane. He likes shiny things!

After dinner, we decided to take the bus to the Magic Kingdom. It was an EMH night, and the rain had cooled things off nicely. We didn’t have to wait long for a bus, and we were through security and onto Mainstreet in no time at all. First things first. We got the boys :bar: :bar: and then Euan wanted to ride the Teacups. I don’t Teacup, but Brian and Harry do, and they were game … and that’s where we headed. We were able to hit many of our favourites, including Dumbo , Pirates, Thunder Mountain, and we got to go through the new Haunted Mansion queue before finally calling it a night at about 1 am. We were beat, and needed to hit the hay.

Again, there was little wait for a bus, and we were back at AKL in no time and asleep soon after that. We decided to forgo a wakeup call and just kind of wing it in the morning.

I'm glad they were able to accommodate you with the room switch before you were ready to unpack! Sanaa sounds like it hit the spot for dinner - and what could be better than those Mickey bars for dessert surrounded by the magic?!!!

After that long drive, I think a non-wake up call for tomorrow is highly deserved.

Gee, why does that sound so familiar??? LOL On to your next installment! :mickey:

Lovely start to your Animal Kingdom Lodge stay! Glad you enjoyed your dinner at Sanaa. We ate there for the first time a few months ago and wasn't overly impressed - I'm thinking the difference in our experiences was the seating - we were seated where we could not see any of the animals from our table. Glad you got such a lovely location for your meal!

I am going to have to eat at Sanaa one of these days. We were in Jambo house and never made it over to Kidani. Glad they were able to change your room to no bunkbeds!

What a busy, great day! So glad you got a window seat at Sanaa. And the MK, first time of the trip, always so magical. (well, any time of the trip, really).
