I was wondering about going to WDW the week after Christmas? What is the weather like? Are the Christmas celebrations still taking place? How crowded are the parks? As you can see, ANY info would be appreciated!

The week between Christmas and New Year's is the most crowded week of the year. HUGE crowds with occasional park closings due to capacity. You can still have fun, you just have to be prepared for that. Have a plan, use Fastpass, don't try to do everything, etc.

Weather is iffy. Quite variable. Check the historic weather conditions page in Info Central to see the weather during that week for the last few years to get a good idea.

All of the Christmas stuff is still up.

The parks are more crowded than at Easter?? That's unimaginable...maybe we"ll wait until April!

Yep, we were there twice during this time, never again...too too many crowds. Not only were waits 2 1/2 hours at the most busy attractions but even Haunted Mansion had 1 1/2 hour waits....I love the Christmas season at WDW, just won't go back that particular week.

Unfortunately, yes. April is still crowded, especially Easter week, but not as bad as Christmas week. That doesn't mean Christmas week is undoable. It just takes a lot more planning and patience.

I would stay away from the Christmas/New Year time all together. We have gone the week before the typical break for most US schools and it was pleasant. Also been right after the New Year once everyone has gone back home and it was nice. Anytime between say the 18-2 will be insane, not to mention the increased holiday pricing Disney does during that time period on some TS.

If you decide to do it anyway, you MUST get to the parks at opening and use fastpass if you want to visit the popular attractions. After lunch expect huge lines and hordes of people in the parks. It is beautiful and the decorations are still up. You can still enjoy a lot of the special Christmas shows the week after and be sure to resort hop to look at the decorations. Especially, the Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge.

We are trying the week before Christmas this trip and hoping it is a little more manageable than the week after...

If you can. hold off until the second week of January. It is very managable then. And Christmas decorations are still up.:mickey:

Yes, early January is much, much less crowded, but we found it a "strange" time to be at Disney, as they transitioned from Christmas to regular. Some decorations came down right away (all of the holiday celebrations are over, like Osborn lights, the Gingerbread House, etc), and each day some of the decoration disappear.

But, if you can manage it, really any time of year will be less crowded than right around Christmas, it is literally shoulder to shoulder in the MK!
