July 21, 1967 – Actor Basil Rathbone (known for his role of Sherlock Holmes) passed away in N.Y.C. His Disney voice credits include the 1986 “The Great Mouse Detective” and the 1949 “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.”
July 21, 1986 – At a press conference on the Empress Lilly at Downtown Disney Marketplace in WDW, Disney CEO Michael Eisner announced plans for a new addition, to be called “Pleasure Island.”
July 21, 1992 – The “Boiler Room Barbecue,” a restaurant at Tokyo Disneyland opened.
July 21, 1992 – The “China Voyager Restaurant” opened at Tokyo Disneyland.
July 21, 1993 – The “Swiss Family Treehouse” attraction opened at Tokyo Disneyland.
July 21, 1995 – The nighttime illuminated parade “Fantillusion” debuted at Tokyo Disneyland. (Ended May 15, 2001)
July 21, 1999 – Disney’s 2nd cruise ship “Disney Wonder” visited Southampton, England on her voyage from Italy, (where she was built) to Florida.
July 21, 2002 – Herman’s Hermits featuring Peter Noone began a 2 day event at Disney’s California Adventure.
July 21, 2002 – Disney’s “The Country Bears” had its premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, Ca.
July 21, 2003 – Betsy, a six-year-old giraffe was killed by a lightning strike from a quick moving storm at. Betsy was one of the original animals to make her home at Disney’s Animal Kingdom prior to its opening.

It has been a long time since I saw "The Great Mouse Detective". I didn't realize they did some post-mortem voice work on that one.
