We are beginning to plan our next trip in the summer of 2013. Both of us are teachers and at one time I knew these resorts offered discounts. Can anyone chime in with specifics?

Yes, the Swan and Dolphin do indeed offer a teacher discount. Right now, rates start at $129/night. That's a great rate for a great hotel with great location!

See here (http://www.swandolphin.com/offers/teachers/index.html) for more information on the teacher discounts.

I just looked for the end of June (6/24-6/28) for a quick weekend trip and the rate was 269/night with the teacher code. Is that a significant savings??

That sounds high! Maybe because it's summer and the weekend?

That does sound really high. We are getting $159.00/nite for the 4th of July week. Thought that would be a higher rate for that week.

We got a teacher rate of $169 for President's weekend 2011 !! We loved the hotel, will be going back FEB 2012.

I think the cost differences may have to do with room upgrades.... The base rate is for a studio, no view. However, you can pay the difference for a view of EPCOT and fireworks:thumbsup:

We have stayed at the swan/dolphin our last 3 trips and up until our most recent have always used the teacher discount. This past trip the AAA rate was a few dollars cheaper and I think this last time I checked for our new trip it was cheaper as well. I would enquire about the AAA discount if I were you.

I'm a teacher too. I looked into the teacher discount for an early October stay and I ended up staying at Coronado Springs for a lower rate than I could get at the Swan/Dolphin. I'm happy though because I like CS. :D

My wife is a teacher, and we have used the teacher discount at Swan/Dolphin three times. One of those times, the price online was way higher than the other two times we had stayed, so we called. They said something about the teacher prices not showing up during busy times until closer to the travel date. However, on the phone they were able to confirm the lower rate. (That was a couple of years ago, so things may have changed, but it is worth checking...)

We've stayed at the Swan, and my parents have stayed at both hotels-teacher rates and AAA. We all love these hotels. You just can't beat the location!!!!

Why don't you use Magical Journeys and let them figure it out and get you the best rates...doesn't cost you anything and they are great:mickey:

The Swan and Dolphin are not Disney hotels, so Magical Journeys may not book them. We've used MJ for our trips before, but not when we stayed at the Swan.

I think we paid $159 per night with the teacher's rate a few years back. The Dolphin was $10-$20 cheaper, if I remember correctly.

Worth every penny----the boat ride to Epcot or MGM, entertainment at the Boardwalk, dining at the Beach Club nearby, and the POOLS! It was a beautiful resort.

MJ does book the Swan/Dolphin as Terrisue booked my trip for November. I got a $161 AAA rate for the first room and the second room was cheaper at the Stay Connected rate. The rates were cheaper than POFQ for 2 rooms and I like the location better.
