After a very busy Friday, we are all slow to get moving this morning. I make coffee and relax on our balcony, for a while. Since we missed our normal sit down dinner, i decide to go down to the lobby and try to get an ADR for a nice breakfast. All the buffets are booked, but the concierge is able to get us in at Tony's. Not my first choice, but it's worth a try.
I get back to the room and explain the new plan. And after just a while, it's off to Magic Kingdom. We get to Tony's and are seated promptly. Good thing i made that ADR, as the CM's at the desk were turning people away. We are seated in the "patio area" where it's nice and bright. Right outside i can see the fastpass distribution for the Mickey and Minnie meet and greet. We've never done this in all the times we've been to MK. So after we order i walk out and get a date with Mickey.
I know that Tony's gets mixed reviews, but i have to say it was pretty good. We ordered Panini, Flatbread and Calzone. Everything was tasty, with no complaints. And being out on the patio was very relaxing. Nice spot.
As soon as lunch was over, we go for our photo session with Mickey and Minnie. There are lots of families in line with pre-schood aged kids. As we get in the room, Solo says that he will take the picture. A CM hears him and says, "No. You are going to be in the picture." We laugh as Solo objects. "The day you are too old to have your picture made with Mickey", the CM says, "is the day they bury you."
Like i said, we've never had a family picture made with Mickey, and now that we've done it, i don't understand why. This was really fun. Being escorted into a small room gave us the feeling something special was happening. And then when we entered, Mickey gave us handshakes, and Minnie gave us big hugs. It's like we were their old friends meeting again, after a long absence. After that, we grouped up and had some photos taken. It felt magical. Even Solo smiled.
From there, the boys decided to go to Big Thunder. Minnie, however, was not up to it. So the boys took off, and Minnie and i just sat on a bench outside Tony's. A couple of marching bands went by, and after a while, the afternoon parade started up. We had a good spot, and just sat there, watching the Magic Kingdom world pass by. Normally, this being our last day, i would be running to get as many attractions in as i could. But this time, i didn't feel the need. I actually felt tired and was satisfied just to relax here, with my wife. "Have you had a good time?" i asked her. "Yes, considering." she smiles.
The boys return. "We got stuck on Haunted Mansion." they tell me. "If there is anything you guys really want to do, let me know now." i say. But no one has any requests. It seems we are all a little tired. So we exit and go back to the resort.
Back there, Minnie joins me at the pool bar, and Indy swims. The pool is packed with Memorial Day vacationers. By far the busiest for the week. There is a new crew at the bar, too. But they were too busy to make small talk. We hang out, watching all the activity at the pool. Talk with more DVC members, and just relax, enjoying our last day at the Wilderness Lodge.
Tonight we are having dinner at the Brown Derby. So after our lazy afternoon at the pool, we get dressed and make our way to the Studios. The Brown Derby has been a favorite of mine for years. I always enjoy coming back. The ambience here is just great. Very elegant. Tonight we had a good meal and a good time. The hostess starting flirting with Indy. Every time she would seat someone, she glanced at him and waved. Indy waved back so often that some other guests thought he was waving at them. It had the boys cracking up most of the meal.
Minnie and i had Cobb Salad and Pork. The Pork was good, but not the best we have had here. Solo offered similar judgement about his steak. Nothing was bad or cooked poorly. Just wasn't melt in your mouth, over the top delicious like some other meals we have had here. I made the mistake of ordering a second Martini, and must have said something stupid, because the boys, already laughing at the cute hostess, started laughing at me.
After dinner, we all wanted one more adventure on Star Tours. So we got in line. The first Fantasmic show was going on, and people were lining up for the second show, so the line wasn't too long. After that we talked about seeing the show, but no one really was hyped about it. So we passed. Then the first show let out, and the park became a bit more crowded. Solo wanted one more ride on Rockin Roller Coaster, but the Fantasmic crowd beat us to it. So after shopping and just looking around, we all decided to go back to the room.
Today was a very relaxing day. Minnie and i didn't do much of anything. No marathon of rides and shows for us. We just sat back and basked in the glow of a very nice week at Disney World. A different tact for us. But just what we needed. Tomorrow we have to start our drive back home. It's good to feel like we've had a succesful trip.
