We finally did it, we have moved on up to the big time!! We will be staying at the Wilderness Lodge in July. Anyone have any tips or advice as to what to do and see over there. It will be me, DW, and DS (2 yrs). Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Great pick! It's a great resort!

You can go on a Hidden Mickey hunt - ask for a clue sheet at the desk. If you're willing to get up early and if there's an opening, you can request being the "flag family". There's one family every morning. That family goes on up to the roof and helps to raise the flags on the top of the resort. I've been up there once and there are some awesome views up there. Also, the "flag family" is usually invited to breakfast in the concierge lounge (you need to pass through there to get to the roof).

See the geyser. Look for the animal tracks in the cement walks out back. Take a boat to the Magic Kingdom.

Also don't forget to take a walk over to the WL Villas and check out the "Train Room." Walt Disney's personal backyard trains are in there!

Whispering Canyon Cafe is a lot of fun too!

Oh, and there is a walkway to Fort Wilderness Campground. You can see the huge Belgium and Clydesdale horses from the MK, as well as some ponies and Chip N' Dale's Campfire sing-along. Well worth the walk!!

Have a great time!!! :mickey:

Take a walk on the path to Ft. Wilderness at dusk. We used to walk along it when DS was younger and the deer would be eating. They wouldn't run away so you could really watch them. It was a nice way to end the day.

While at the WL:

1) Enjoy the lobby area- the stream, the fireplace, totem poles.
2) See the geyser.
3) Watch the electrical parade from the WL beach.
4) Walk to FW. At FW- Campfire.
5) Take the boat to MK.

Best resort ever!

You should love Whispering Canyon. So should your little one.
Our favorite restaurant in the whole world is Artist Point!
Take the boat to MK.
Explore the resort, inside and out. Spend time there, it's beautiful.

If you're into pin trading, check out the cart in the corner of the lobby near the ramp going down to Roaring Fork. The ladies who work there are very nice, and they have a book of pins you can flip through and trade with. Two pins per day. We visited every day of our trip and got some great pins.

Make sure to check out the common rooms at the Wilderness Lodge Villas. There are some cool displays in those rooms.

It's a beautiful resort. Love it there and would stay there in November; but there are 5 of us going this time. The lobby is just breathtaking. We enjoyed just looking around and the views from different floors. The gift shop is very nice too. Enjoy!!:mickey:

I have to re-iterate what Kathy said about the pin ladies being very nice! When DH lost the back off of his beloved Haunted Mansion Pin during our last trip, we inquired about buying some new backs and they gave him a set of backs for free! We also liked that you could take a boat between the resort and the MK. I bet your son will love it, too!
