Christmas break 2011 date

Do any of you know when your schools go back after Christmas. We like to go as soon as possible, after New Year, but because Jan 1 is a Sunday, I'm wondering when schools are going back. We also like to be at WDW when it is not quite as busy. Thanks for responses.

Kids in my area start x-mas vacation Dec 24 and return Jan 2.

Jan 1st is the holiday, I would expect every thing to be back to normal Jan 2nd.

Our vacation is December 17, 2011 through January 3, 2012

The kids begin their vacation on 12/23 and return on 01/03.

My kids go back on the 3rd.

The vast majority of schools return around the third. Keep in mind - the weekend after Jan 1 is Marathon Weekend, which makes things VERY busy at Epcot, especially, and January has become very popular for South American groups (it's their summer break) so don't go expecting it to be empty.

We go back January 3rd here in Tampa.

Agreed that January has gotten much busier, but don't really account that to the marathoners as much as to the Brazilians. We've been going at this time for the marathon for many years, and it used to be a heavenly time to go. Only in the last few years have we noticed the increase in crowds...along with the Brazilians.

I should have been more clear - the marathon creates headaches getting in and out of Epcot due to traffic flow. Also, during the morning, it can be a pain to navigate the park due to the race coming through Epcot. So, just avoid Epcot on race days if you're there. At least until the afternoon when things clear up.

We always go back Jan 2, or Jan 3/4th if New Years day falls on Friday/Saturday respectivley.
I will however say that Jan 2nd will probably be a Federal Holiday and a lot of schools will no doubt be off.

Here in southern Louisiana most schools last day will be Dec. 20 and will report back to school on Jan. 4.

Kids in Cobb County Georgia do not start back until Jan 9th for the 2011-2012 school year, but I think we are probably in the minority.
