May 18, 1990 – “The Little Mermaid” became the 10th “Walt Disney Classic” to be released on video.
May 18, 1992 – Actor and musician Spencer Breslin was born in N.Y.C. His Disney credits include “The Kid,” “The Santa Clause 2,” “The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement,” “The Shaggy Dog,” and “The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.” Breslin also supplied the voice for Cubby in the 2002 “Return to Neverland.”
May 18, 1993 – The hit TV series Full House went to WDW in part-2 of “The House Meets the Mouse.”
May 18, 1995 – Gene Autry’s California Angels baseball club and Disney reached an agreement for Disney to acquire 25% interest in the team.
May 18, 1997 - IllumiNations25 had its last performance and will be updated with new classical music and the name of the show would remain the same.
May 18, 1997 – The Disney Musical “King David” had its premiere at the opening of the New Amsterdam Theater in N.Y.C.
May 18, 1999 – The soundtrack to Disney’s animated “Tarzan” was released on Walt Disney Records.
May 18, 2001 – Animation design legend Maurice J. Noble, co-director and Academy Award winner for “Dot and the Line”, passed away at the age of 91.
May 18, 2002 – The Annual Passholders lounge opened at the “Pizzafari” restaurant in the Animal Kingdom at WDW.
May 18, 2003 – Disney’s animated film “Finding Nemo” had its premiere in Hollywood, Ca. Among those present for the premiere were Alexander Gould (Nemo), Erica Beck (Pearl), Stephen Root (Bubbles), Brad Garret (Bloat), John Ratzenberger (the one in the school of fish that gave directions), Elizabeth Perkins (Coral), Willem Dafoe (Gill), writer and director Andrew Stanton (Crush), Albert Brooks (Marlin), and Ellen DeGeneres (Dory).
