Apr. 30, 1976 – Disney animator Milt Kahl, one of Walt’s “Nine Old Men,” retired. His work ranged from the 1935 “Mickey’s Service Station” to the 1977 “The Rescuers.”
Apr. 30, 1982 – Actress Kirsten Dunst, who appeared in the 1997 TV movie “Tower of Terror”, was born in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. (the movie was based on the WDW attraction)
Apr. 30, 1989 – The 2-hour TV special “The Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park Grand Opening” aired.
Apr. 30, 1990 – Disney’s Educational film “Goofy’s Office Safety Championship” and “Goofy’s Plant Safety Championship” was released.
Apr. 30, 1994 - Astro Orbitor opened in TomorrowLand replacing the Star Jets in the Magic Kingdom at WDW.
Apr. 30, 1995 – The “Beauty and the Beast” stage show at Disneyland’s Fantasyland closed.
Apr. 30, 2000 – The L.A. Times reported that WDW has disbanded its marching band, a Magic Kingdom fixture for nearly 30 years. The bands 18 musicians, dressed in signature red coats, white pants, and plumed hats, were abruptly fired last week. They would be replaced by smaller musical groups throughout the Florida park.
Apr. 30, 2002 – Singer Eddie Money would perform 3 shows through May 2, as part of the Flower Power Concert Series at America Gardens Theatre in Epcot.
Apr. 30, 2002 – “Monsters, Inc.” was among the winners for Top Box Office Films at the ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards, held in Ca.
Apr. 30, 2003 – The ASCAP Film and Television Music Awards were presented at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, Ca. Among the winners for Top Box Office Films was “Lilo & Stitch.”
