About 10 days ago I went to the dentist to have a small cavity filled. When the dentist was giving me the shot of Novocain it felt like it “splattered” across my bottom lip and then went numb. It only took about 20 minutes and she was thru with the filling.
Now a week and half later I am still having pain in my jaw area (not the tooth) when I open my mouth really wide or bite my teeth together in the front or move my jaw from side to side.
I called the dentist back and she said it was probably just bruised from the shot and to take Motrin and put a warm compress on it.
Has any one else had this problem and how long does it take before the pain goes away??

I've had that problem, but in fact the bruise was visible on my face as well- looked like I had been hit hard. It lasted about three weeks. But if yours lasts more than another few days, I would probably call the dentist back and ask about it again. Sorry for you. As if it isn't bad enough getting dental work. :(
