Mar. 22, 1987 – The Wonderful World of Disney aired the 1971 feature “Bedknobs and Broomsticks.”
Mar. 22, 1996 – The Disney film “Little Indian, Big City,” was released.
Mar. 22, 1996 – The Walt Disney Company purchased the Emerald and Pan Pacific Hotel. The 502-room hotel would be renamed to Disneyland Pacific Hotel.
Mar. 22, 1998 – In Anaheim, Ca., the Grand Hotel was imploded at 6:45am by Controlled Demolition, to make way for Disneyland’s new parking area.
Mar. 22, 1999 – Elton John appeared on TV’s “The Tonight Show” promoting Disney’s Broadway show “Aida”, for which he has written the music.
Mar. 22, 2002 – The Disney/Touchstone Picture film “Sorority Boys” was released.
Mar. 22, 2004 – The Disney two-hour TV movie “N.T.S.B.: The Crash of Flight 323” aired for the first time.
Mar. 22, 2005 – Disney’s “On The Record” (a touring musical revue) began a series of performances in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Mar. 22, 2005 – The Kim Possible Soundtrack, Disney’s Karaoke Series: Kim Possible, Radio Disney Jams 7, and Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings Album, were all released on Walt Disney Records.
Mar. 22, 2006 – The “Happiest Balloon On Earth” took to the air for the very first time in Pendleton, Or. At Wildhorse Resort. The test flight lasted an hour and was captured on video from the ground and a following helicopter. Celebrating Disneyland’s 50th anniversary, the Mickey-shaped balloon (also known as “Ear Force One”) would officially begin an 11-week tour in Tucson, Az. On Mar. 30th.
