Just wondering what people are paying for gas these days. In our area unleaded gas went from $3.19 to $3.49/gallon few places at $3.59. We are east of the Twin Cities.

Found the gas thread above from a few years ago when prices were thought to be crazy, looking back then and now it's something how much higher it is now then it was back then when it was on the News everyday. Most where under $3/gallon and now everyone seems to be above that. The highest price I had posted back then was $3.15 and now it's $.35-$.45 higher and will most luckly go up more.

We found regular last night at $3.28, while most other stations in the same part of Orlando were at about $3.39. Notice I said "were" - - chances are it's higher this morning.

My truck uses diesel - - right now, it's averaging $ 3.60. :spend: Fortunately, I get about 24 mpg.

$3.27 a gallon here now for regular. Unfortunately, my car needs premium and that's running me $3.50 a gallon.

Which is just fabulous when you consider that my round trip commute to work each day is 80 miles. :crying:

We (Americans) are addicted to our cars and cheap gasoline. And even at 3.50 per gallon, gas is still cheap compared to most every other place in the world. That doesn't mean I like to pay that much though. When I was a teenager, we had gas price war for a few months in our town/county. The lowest I ever paid was 19.9 cents per gallon. This was in the 1970's believe it or not. It wasn't that cheap for long though. My best friend had a VW Beetle and we could cruise all night on pocket change.

Gas in my town in Northern NJ went from $2.99 Thursday morning to $3.15 by Saturday for Unleaded, paying cash, which is how I fill up.

Still cheaper than most places in the United States so for that I am grateful. This is going to have an effect on the economy. The average family will have to cut out other things to allow for the extra money being spent at the pump.

We saw this happen in 2008. All while the oil companies had reported "record profits".

It is a vicious wheel. Hope it just doesn't keep rising!

Guys, there's been a few posts here that are straying off topic a bit. The question is, "What are gas prices in your area?" not "Why is gas so expensive?" or "Who's getting rich off of gas prices?"

Keep the politics and the opinions out of it and stay focused on the thread topic, please.

The weekend before last, gas was $3.05 at our cheap station. I heard about the increase and went to fill up last Monday. It was already to $3.14. Then, by this weekend, it was $3.29. Crazy!
If it's going to $5-7.50, like I've read, we won't be vacationing, or doing much of anything extra this summer. We won't be able to afford the drive to work, much less the drive to the beach!

We have two big vacations planned this summer--one to WDW and one to Utah/Wyoming/Montana, both of which our airline tickets have already been purchased. Good thing for me...I think...
But we do like to go to the beach for several mini-vacations during the summer and if fuel prices do indeed rise as have mentioned, then we may make it only one, maybe two trips this summer to the beach...boo hoo for me :humph::sob::pout:

So the wool is pulled over everyone's eyes when we're told the price of gas has risen due to middle east conflicts.

Hello fellow South Jersyan!! :)

I have to do have to disagree a little.
Where oil is imported from has a minor impact on the cost of the barrell.
It has risen recently and in the recent past because it is a commodity and it is being used as investment globally, moreso now because of the weak US dollar. It is one of the better investments out there now because people and countries are still very oil dependent. And since it is based on the US dollar, when the dollar is weak, other countries can get more bang for their buck investment-wise.

Also, I think the Middle East conflicts do have some cause in the rising cost of oil. One of the factors in cost of oil is supply. OPEC nations involved in the conflict may have reduced supplies, and the cost will rise. And a nation like Canada, even though it is not OPEC, would follow the "market price" on a barrell of oil on its exports to the US, correct?

BTW, oil has fallen today around 5% on demand fears because it has had a marked impact in the US economic growth. This has happened in the past when it reaches a tipping point when the economy backslides because of the high cost at the pump. Only problem is - falling oil prices = a falling economy. It has to find some balance and in the past few years, it hasn't and the cost of oil has been all over.

I paid $1.39/litre yesterday, which works out to $5.26/US gallon, which because the Canadian dollar is trading higher than the US one, works out to $5.50 US per US gallon.

$4.35 doesn't sound so bad now, does it? ;)

yes $4.35 does still sound bad ;) mainly because never venture to canada to have to worry about those prices. but for our area $4.35 is horrible.

gas prices were lower before they capped the Gulf...

Paid $3.79 for regular in Northern NJ this week.

$90/100 to fill up Suburban depending on when I stop to get, how close to empty I am. However, I am only getting gas every other week for this vehicle, and I really really try to be logistically mindful when running errands and going out.

$50 to fill up Camaro, which I drive on the weeks I don't have to take my carpool kids home from school.

The gas prices are hurting!

I think this is really the ONLY way to stay ahead with this crunch! Carpooling, using transit, PLOTTING errands and walking/cycling when possible.

I paid $4.25 yesterday and it cost me $50 to fill up my Civic. I was listening to the radio this morning and there are conflicting predictions of what's coming up. Some people are saying that gas prices have peaked, others are saying that we'll see $6.00 a gallon by summer. :ill:

E85 is selling for $3.35/gal in this area, but my cars won't run on it. Regular gas is still under $4.00/gal. here in Middle Ga, but not by much.

I am in no way a oil price expert, and I didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night :D, but I think its peaked. The world economy, especially the US, cannot continue growth with high oil prices. It is probably the most direct drain on a person's spending. It may bounce back to what it was at $115/barrell but come summer time, I think it will wind back down.
Again, this is just my opinion (and wishful thinking), based on previous trends.

Finally! I finally got lucky! Gas prices came down 24 cents a gallon overnight and I needed a fill up.

I drive a Camaro with a V8 so this is a big thing! The past two fill ups happened right after gas prices went up again.

The gas station in the town I work in just went from $3.95 to $3.91. Not a big drop but at least a start in the right direction. And this is usually one of the cheapest places.

Price Chopper give .10 off for every $50 you spend there. So I find myself doing almost all my shopping there now.

When I bought my car 10 years ago, it cost about $10-12 to fill it. Now it's around $35.00!

I really hope it continues to go down or we might not be doing as many day trips this summer.

Here in the UK gas costs £1.42 per litre (£6.46 per Gallon), at todays exchange rate this would cost 10 USD per gallon

IT JUST COST ME IN USD EQUIVALENT - $155 TO FILL MY CAR!

Everyone is finding it difficult, and walking as much as possible instead.

Checking out this thread as we are driving back to the World in 2 weeks, and wondering what the prices are outside of KY. I paid $3.95 a gallon this morning. It's usually our experience that as soon as we are South of Louisville, the prices drop a little, anything less would be welcome!

I have generally purchased gas at Costco when I was in that general area. It's usually cheaper by about 10 cents but the other day we stopped and it was $3.65. When we returned home, the small independent station near my home was $3.51, and it's still coming down. :number1: We also though have a new competitor coming to town, big competitor, so that probably has a lot to do with it as well. Who know, I don't really care, it's cheaper...

Gas prices here are the main news story because 2 refineries near Chicago were shut down for Mantainance which is why we shot up so much.

Here in Miami, I just paid $3.34 yesterday, but it ranges from $3.34 -3.59 depends where you gas up. Which should be regulated. On one corner its $3.34 and a few blocks down it could be as high as $3.59-3.69 sometimes higher than that. In Orlando the best example is the Hess by DTD is always the cheapest we find in Disney, but if you head to the Outlets there is a Shell station that was charging $5.99 to for unleaded. Something needs to be done about that :thedolls: OH and I hate those stations that say “cash only “ price in really tiny tiny letters..

$3.29 for Regular (87 octane) here....Up 4 cents over the past week. It was dropping pretty steadily for a while, but now seems to have stabilized and may be reversing the trend.

It's just pathetic that our prices had to jump 46 cents because 2 refineries shut down for maintenance and they say the price will be this high until July. We easily broke our record high which was like $3.99. Makes it tough with all the summer activities coming like going to cabins and boating.

Come on this is ridiculous, we went up yet another dime, now at $4.39 a gallon. What do they expect people to do? It's could cost me up to $65 to fill my little Ford Ranger.

I'm here in MN with ya, can't believe that it really wasn't all that long ago we were teetering on the $2.99 threshhold and now are $4.39. Ridiculous.

On a related note, when I bought my first truck, like yours, a Ford Ranger, I filled it for $17! I think it was '99 or 2000 and gas was $1 a gallon. I filled my Ford F150 yesterday and it was $85 and that wasn't even a full tank, more like 3/4.

$3.419 here in my part of NJ when I filled this week
Which has been about the average over the past 12 months. Highest it got was the mid $3.60s and it got below $3.20 for about a week at the end of April.
