Rush Hour - Orlando?

I am curious how bad is traffic on I4 from Daytona to WDW during morning rush hour (meaning arriving at WDW by 8:30am)?

Travel time is sated at 1.5 hrs, but I expect it will be longer this time of day.

When we stay at New Smyrna Beach (just south of Daytona), we always go down to the beach line and then over. Never any problem with the traffic down there.

I-4 westbound through Orlando is always slow at that time of morning. And even a minor accident can bring movement to a halt. You might consider going around Orlando to the east (I-95 to the Beachline) as Birdsell suggests. You could also get off of I-4 before Orlando and take the 417 Greenway around to Osceola Parkway at Disney. There are frequent tolls on this route, but it is seldom clogged with traffic.
