Jan. 20, 1974 – Disney’s 2-part television show “Hog Wild” aired. (Part-2 aired Jan. 20, 1974)
Jan. 20, 1990 – Although nominated for Best Motion Picture – Comedy/Musical, “The Little Mermaid” was edged out by Driving Miss Daisy at the Golden Globe Awards. “The Little Mermaid” did win Best Original Song – Motion Picture for “Under the Sea,” written by Alan Menken & Howard Ashman.
Jan. 20, 1991 – The Disney Channel Premiere film “Bejeweled” aired.
Jan. 20, 1995 – The “Courtyard by Marriot” at Lake Buena Vista” at WDW opened. (Took place of Howard Johnson Hotel, renamed and remodeled.
Jan. 20, 1995 – The Disney/Touchstone film “Bad Company” was released.
Jan. 20, 2001 – Disney’s House of Mouse animated series aired the episode “Unplugged Club.”
Jan. 20, 2001 – “Michelle Kwan: Princess on Ice” aired on ABC-TV. The Disney/Hallmark Presentation also featured skaters Dorothy Hamill and Katarina Witt.
Jan. 20, 2002 - The NFFC, the club for Disneyana Enthusiasts hosted the “World’s Largest Strickly Disneyana Show and Sale” at the Embassy Suites in Garden Grove, Ca.
Jan. 20, 2002 – Disney’s animated TV series “Teamo Supremo” debuted.
Jan. 20, 2003 – Disney Imagineer David Mumford passed away at the age of 46. At Disneyland, he worked on “Aladdin’s Oasis,” “Star Tours,” and the “Alice in Wonderland” attraction. He began his career as a ride operator at Disneyland’s “Submarine Voyage.”
