Soarin' debuted at WDW in 2005 for the Happiest Celebration on Earth. Before that, Food Rocks was in its place, and before that it was Kitchen Kabaret.

Actually it's a new building that was built for Soarin, attached to the building that was there before that did house both those attractions.

Soarin opened on May 5, 2005, thus the rides "flight number- 5505".

Yep, WDW in Florida originally opened in 1971, so it's only coming up to the 40th anniversary.
Disneyland in California was opened in 1955 -- so perhaps you were thinking of THAT 50th anniversary?

I think the reference was to Disneyland's 50th anniversary which I believe was celebrated in some way in all the Disney parks.

Exactly. Each park got a "gift" from Disneyland for it's anniversary. WDW's gift was Soarin'.

Maybe they are thinking of Soaring at the Disneyland Resort. I believe we did have it here in Califonia at that time (or earlier).

I was referring to Disneyland's 50 anniversary and how for that celebration DW got Sorin from Disneyland, The Lights Motor, from France and The stage show (Cinderella's Coronation) from Tokyo.
