Anyone know if you can exchange 2 counter service meals for a sit down? We decided to get the CS meal plan but might want to do a TS meal; do we have to just pay for it?

You have to pay for it, the meal, not the exchange. Disney doesn't allow substitutions on the dining plan. Throws off their profits...

We were allowed to convert snack credits to Counter Service credits when we were at the Boardwalk in September. The manager was the only one who knew how to do it, though. The people at the concierge desk swore it couldn't be done, but the lady at the counter in Seashore Sweets said it could. She was right, and the manager had to come over and show the concierge people how to do it. We were given freebies from Seashore Sweets as an apology for the trouble (CS at concierge being rude when we asked about it.)

1) The Concierge Desk does it all the time.
2) IF THEY WANT TO !
3) If not a good reason, they will say they don't know how.
4) It is really a VERY easy process.
. . . to add credits (for a good reason)
. . . to remove credits (for a good reason)
. . . trade credits (eg, CS for Snack)
. . . to exchange credits between rooms
. . . to transfer credits between rooms
5) It is done all the time
. . . when a eatery accidently double-charges credits
. . . charges a TS credit intead of a CS credit
. . . etc
6) As for trading CS for TS
. . . a CS credit is not worth 50% of a TS credit *
. . . to trade would be a loss to WDW

* Several CM's have estimated the credit's value to a WDW eatery. Not the value to the customer, but the reimbursement to the eatery or snack location.

We didn't even give them a reason. We simply asked if it could be done. When we asked, we were answered rudely. We only asked because we went to Seashore Sweets to use up our snack credits because we were leaving that day. The cashier kindly told us that if we wanted, we could convert the credits at concierge. We went to ask, and were told no, they didn't know how. They didn't even ask why. We went back to Seashore to use the snack credits, and the cashier called the manager down to her store. He took us back to the concierge desk and did the exchange for us. The people at concierge acted surprised, like they didn't know an exchange could be made.

We have done it the opposite way. We switched TS credits for CS credits. Not sure about the other way around.

1) Once again, ANYTHING can be done at the Concierge Desk for DDP.
. . . add extra credits
. . . take credits away
. . . trade TS for CS
. . . trade CS for snack
. . . trade CS for TS
2) As long as they feel like doing it.
3) So, go to Concierge Desk
. . . smile a BIG smile
. . . ask politely
. . . if refused, beg, politely
. . . be on your best behavior

NOTE: I know it sounds bad, but the Lobby Concierge and Club Floor Concierge do have a certain amount of powers. Maybe not like Superman, but at least more than Clark Kent. And, it is pretty much up to them if they want to use it.
(Some need mgr approval based upon Concierge rcommendation):
. . . free room upgrades (based upon capacity openings)
. . . free fruit baskets
. . . free wine and cheese baskets
. . . free flowers
. . . free meals
. . . free FastPass booklets
