Paying for meals/tips with Disney gift card

Can you use the Disney Gift Cards to pay for your meals/tips at Ohana's, Chef Mickey's, and Crystal Palace?

We also placed our gift card balances on to our room keys instead of a credit card so that we only needed to carry one card around in the parks. Then we charged our meals to our room credit.

Just to let you know...you can't use Disney gift cards at the Swan or Dolphin, or any of the restaurants there. We found out the hard way!

Be careful they don't charge tip to your card and you also leave cash. This happened to us at ohanas last year. We tipped in cash on the table and later found out they also charged our card the tip. We were on the dining plan. We will make sure on our next trip we make it very clear we pay our tips in cash

also be carefull that you don't put a tip on the Gift card... then go and use it (forgetting that they don't charge the tip amount right away) on something else merchandise wise...your tip will be not accepted and your server will be shorted. We accidently did that :( but to make it right after we realized our mistake, we went back and gave her a cash tip.
