Chilean miners are going to Disney

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - The rescued Chilean miners and their families will receive a free vacation to the happiest place on earth.

In January, the miners and their families will be treated to a trip to a 6-night stay at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

They will receive a hero's welcome as miners, their rescuers and immediate families will meet Disney characters, visit all four Walt Disney World theme parks and serve as honorary Grand Marshals of the Main Street, U.S.A. parade in Magic Kingdom. During their vacation in Florida they also will be treated to a $500 gift card per family, a group photo in front of Cinderella Castle and personal photo albums of their visit.

The story of the miners was one of the most gripping stories of the year as the men were trapped 2,300 feet beneath the earth for 69 days. The men were pulled from the mine in what many considered a miracle rescue.

The miners will be visiting Central Florida he Jan. 27-Feb. 2.

My 7yr old ds knows the story of the miners and thinks WDW is great for doing this for them. I think its pretty cool too!

We come home on the 24th. I'm a bit disappointed I won't get to see them! I hope they have a wonderful time!

Just read that the Chilean Miners are going to be at WDW Jan 27 - Feb 2. We are going to be at WDW the same time frame. Just curious, has anyone heard where they are staying?

We will be there the same time. Interesting. Would be fun to see them in a parade or anywhere for that matter.
