Planning far in advance

The furthest out that I've ever planned a trip is 9 months. For those of you who plan years in advance, what do you do so early? We've decided we can't afford to go next year, as we're expecting our second child in late June. However, we took our first DD to WDW for her first birthday, and we plan to do the same for this one. So we're looking at at June 2012 trip... I looked at the website yesterday and realized that you can't make ressies that far in advance. However, can't you make them over the phone far out? I'm not doing it yet, just wondering. And if I make them early, do I get the rates from whenever I make them, or do they already know what the summer 2012 rates will be?

Not really planning anything yet, just really trying to satisfy my curiosity. :secret:

You can make room only reservations a year in advance. You can't make package reservations until the rates are announced for the following year - typically around August.

You used to be able to plan things further out than the current system allows.
