She said Disney was hiring a bunch of bus drivers right now. So I asked why. She said that a new pleasure island was being built an it was over half way finished! So I immediately thought of the PI refurbed that's been talked about and she said no a completely new PI near where Coronado springs is. She was naming the exact location by highway names and numbers but I have no clue about those so it didn't stick. She said they need 200 more buses to accompdate this new PI. She kept calling it pleasure island 2. Does anyone know what this could be? I never heard of it before. I have been "lied" to before by CMs so you never know.

sounds like flamingo crossings out on 429--when I was there in sept -- I saw basically no buildings on that property yet. From everything that I have seen Flamingo Crossings will be no Pleasure Island though.

Thanks

The only new construction I have been watching is here:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=disney+world&sll=28.396837,-81.542995&sspn=0.008362,0.021136&ie=UTF8&t=h&rq=1&ev=p&split=1&radius=0.77&hq=disney+world&hnear=&ll=28.396837,-81.542995&spn=0.008362,0.021136&z=16

I think it is cool with the Mickey and all. Kinda like how the hidden Mickey in MGM when it first opened.:mickey:

I thought so, too. There's certainly no "Pleasure Island 2" in development. However, there's nothing going on with Flamingo Crossings right now either. It's not even close enough ready for them to be hiring bus drivers. The other project is that they filed for permits recently to tear down the remaining PI buildings. No new building there right now.

I did hear something recently about Disney hiring new bus drivers, but it has nothing to do with a PI2 or anything like it. Just bringing their new buses online and filling their staffing needs. I don't know that it's "200" but I do know that they are hiring some.

I have not got a clue. I'm just nosy and like to spy on Disney using the satellites:mickey:

Looks a lot like it's just another golf course. Is that even Disney Property over there?

That is the golf course next to Fort Wilderness. A while back, it was said that swanky homes were to be built there. I hope that is not the case.

The construction that was pictured on the link is the new Golden Oaks subdivision that Disney is building.

Makes sense, million dollar homes require a golf course nearby!

I thought Golden Oak was also replacing a golf course, or at least a previously planned course.

Yes, that is Golden Oaks. Flamingo Crossings or whatever it will be called is supposed to be built over by AK/AKL

New buses? I haven't seen or heard anything about new buses. Does anybody have any news or pics?

No. And, from what I understand, they aren't new as in something you would notice. Not new models. Just new in terms of replacing older buses with newer versions of the same. Again, that was not solid information. Just something mentioned to me in passing.

Oh, it positively IS the case. And I suppose they would qualify as "swanky" with price tags from a low of $1.5 Million to a high of $8 Million.

Back to the original topic, WDW advertises for bus drivers in the local papers almost weekly. Apparently there is pretty high turnover in that department. :bus:

Can someone tell me what flamingo crossings is? Is it Disney?

It's a long-stalled project near Coronado Springs that is eventually supposed to be something similar to Downtown Disney. The project was started a few years ago, but fell into limbo when the economy went south. It will probably be resurrected at some point, but I sure wouldn't hold my breath waiting.
