D23 Magic and Merriment 2010

I was just wanting to know if anyone on here is going to the D23 Magic and Merriment event on December 10-12? I was able to snag 3 tickets or my parents and I to go, and it wasn't easy!

Did anyone go last year? Any reports?

Looks like I'm the only one on Icot going to this event. This is my 'home' board and was hoping to meet some more people off the site.

I had never heard of the D23. Am I missing out on something?

D23 is the official Disney fan club. There are different levels ojf membership and the highest one includes a quarterly magazine that is really nice. They offer exclusive events all over the country, but it has seemed, since it's conception, that most are in California. I believe that enough people have compianed and they are offering more events in WDW now. They have an expo at Disneyland every other year, which seems fun. Disney seems to make a lot of their large announcements at D23 events.

The Magic and Merriment is in it's second year this year. It is a very intimate (200 people) event that includes presentations about the parks during the holidays, as well as some special events, like dinner on the Indiana Jones Stunt Show set, a private viewing of The Osborne Lights and tours of the suite in Cinderella Castle.

In May, they are having their mini-convention type thing called Destination D at WDW, plus a 2 day scavenger hunt! I already booked accommodations for that, so I hope I am able to be a part of it.

I'm going to have to join D23, because I'm definitely going to Destination D in the spring. Maybe if I was already a member I'd be going to this. ;) Please do post a trip report! Will you be tweeting from the event?
