Memorial Day Crowds

My family and I are planning a trip for May 2011. We are currently looking at Memorial Day weekend in order to take advantage of the free dining offer. I noticed that that weekend is listed as one of the most crowded times of the year :cool:!!
Has anyone been at that time that can comment. Should we switch to earlier in May and hope for a discount to be released?
Also are we going to be hit with torrential rain everyday as it is approaching the rainy season:confused:?

May is often one of the drier months of the year in Florida. We've been over Memorial Day weekend and, while the crowds certainly do increase (both due to the holiday the beginning of the summer school releases), we've found it to be a manageable time of the year. Crowds are definitely, better, though, earlier in the month.

We went there on Memorial Day Weekend twice (2001 and 2002), and both times we were quite pleased with the crowds. We didn't find it out of the ordinary at all.
