Oct. 25, 1904 – Disney animator Vladimir “Bill” Tytla, whose most famed masterpiece is Stromboli in Disney’s 1940 “Pinocchio,” was born in Yonkers, N.Y.
Oct. 25, 1910 – Artist Tyrus Wong was born in Toishan, China. He and his father would come to the U.S. and live in Los Angeles, Ca. Wong would start at the Walt Disney Studios in 1938 as an entry-level in-betweener. Later, his beautiful landscapes and forest renditions would help him become a lead artist on the production of “Bambi.” (Wong would later work for Warner Brothers Studios, Columbia, RKO and 20th Century Fox.)
Oct. 25, 1924 – Billy Barty, the original voice of Journey into Imagination’s “Figment,” and has credits in Disney’s 1990 animated feature “The Rescuers Down Under,” was born in Millsboro, Pa.
Oct. 25, 1941 – Singer-actress Helen Reddy, who has credits in Disney’s 1977 “Pete’s Dragon,” was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Oct. 25, 1948 – Time magazine ran an article about Disney titled “The Mighty Mouse” in this week’s issue.
Oct. 25, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “Today is Guest Star Day” on ABC-TV.
