My DH and I are planning 2 trips for 2011. Feb is just my DH, DS (2) and I. Then we are planning our family vacation that includes my stepkids (DSS 10, DSD6) for August. My DS turns 3 August 14th, and I was hoping to arrange our trip so that he would still be free!! So here is my dilemma...
We just got a flyer advertising Free Dining for different dates throughout 2010 and 2011. The free dining for Aug 2011 starts 8/19 -9/29. So do we go before/or when my son turns 3, and have to pay for all of our food? Or do we go for the free dining starting on 8/19, but have to pay for my DS's park pass? What do you think is the better thing to do? Or do I just sit around and wait to see what other offers come up? (we are not looking to book yet, just got this mail today and it got me thinking!) TIA!! :mickey:

I'd suggest running the numbers to see what works out to be the best deal for you.

Either way you would have to pay for something. Either his food or his pass. Kids passes are very reasonable IMHO. Personally I'd go as late as possible in the hopes that it cools off a bit. August is brutal in Disney. :sun: :fan:

If you get the kid's pass after he's three and get the free DDP, he'll be completely paid for. If you go before he's 3, he can't get the DDP and you'll have to pay for all those side dished he'll need to eat. So it's almost like you wouldn't be paying a full ticket price. I'd go with the free dining. The money you save will be a lot more than a kid's ticket.
