If I buy basic admission tickets can I add the water park option without adding the hopper option? We have never done the water parks before and I was just wondering. Thanks!

Yes, and you can still visit a theme park the same day as a water park. Or two water parks, a water park and downtown Disney. Just not two theme parks.

Yes, you can purchase the Water Parks & More option without the Park Hopper Option.

You will be able to go to a water park, and one of the "regular" 4 theme parks on the same day, as you don't need the hopper option to do that.

Yes you can add Water Parks and more without having the hopper. This is a great way to extend your tickets. We did this in June and it worked out well. We had the military tickets which were only 4 day tickets, so by adding the water parks and more it was like adding 4 more days of fun. We spent whole days at the water parks and it was very enjoyable! Our kids loved the water parks and claimed this one of our best vacations ever!
