2011 Free Dining question

We are planning to go October 14 to October 23, 2011. I have selected 2 adults, 2 children (11 and 8). 10 day MYW with Park Hopper and basic dining. Preferred room at Pop. The total comes to 3839.81. I priced the same exact thing for 9-23-11 to 10-3-11. This was only $100.00 less. I understand free dining ends on 9-29-11, so shouldn't it be more than a drop of only $100? Thanks!

Have they announced "Free Dining" up to Sept 2011...I thought it was only until spring?

Where did you ask for this quote? If you did it online with Disney, they don't automatically give you "free dining" in the quote. To see what the "true" cost would be during a free dining time period, you have to look at the quote w/o the dining plan in it.

If I were you, I'd contact Magical Journeys -- they will give you the correct quote, including free dining, for both time periods.

(and the only reason I know about Disney not pricing out free dining properly, as I use MJ myself, is b/c I was helping a friend get a quote online at work last week through Disney in the middle of the night -- if you put in "basic dining plan" with your quote, you will get a quote that includes the price for the dining plan. Maybe Disney adjusts it later when it goes through the system, maybe not -- they might just charge people for it if they're not aware they can have it for free! ;))

OMG! Those are the exact dates we will be there!! I will keep my fingers crossed that free dining will be extended - have a great trip!!!

As a PP stated, you would need to take off the Dining from the 9-23 -- 10-3 dates to match with the 10-14 -- 10-23 dates. ALSO, you need to understand the the "Free DDP" offer for the value resorts (Pop, AllStars) is the Quick Service DDP, NOT the Basic DDP. So, if you wanted to upgrade to the Basic DDP, it will cost you in the neighborhood of $10/person/night on the 9-23 -- 10-3 dates.

Apparently, you need to book it through the Special Offers link on the Disney World site. My new price for 2 adults, 2 children (11 and 8). 10 day MYW with Park Hopper and basic dining. Preferred room at Pop is 2708.08. Travel dates are 9-23-11 to 10-2-11. The cutoff for free (or discounted) dining is 9-29-11. Woohoo! Just got back and next trip already booked!!!:cloud9:
