Upcoming crowds???

I am coming "HOME" in 7 short days! :D
Anyway, I have noticed that the rental car prices have drastically increased and I would like to ask my Intercotees just what is going on? Am I in for large crowds? Also, Minivans are gone as well. Thank you so much for any info.

Rental car prices have been quite high for a while now. When the recession started, many rental companies dumped inventory. As demand for rental cars has risen, the short supply has allowed companies to keep remaining inventory priced high.

On our last trip, we decided not to rent due to the cost of rental cars but we di take Quicksilver to our resort.

the prices have been extremely high! I wanted to fly and then get a rental car so we don't have to rely on an offsite shuttle to get us to the world. However the cost of Airfare + Rental car was outrageous. So instead in 7 days we are making the 17.5 hour car ride down from Michigan!! My Honda FIT gets 42mpg so it will be a lot cheaper driving!

Don't quote me on this, but I think there is a huge IT convention in Orlando during the second week of October. When business travelers need rental cars, prices will go up.

I am concerned for crowds as well, I saw the rates for hotels onsite. Wow!
