Can someone please tell me if and how this works. If we rent DVC pooints during free dining season?

If you're renting points from a DVC owner, you would not be able to get free dining.

1) Correct.
2) Free DIning is not available when staying on points.
3) Rented or woned.

Just to clarify, if you are a DVC member and staying at a DVC resort and are using your points, you most certainly can add the Dining Plan to your reservation. "Free" dining is not an option. If you're renting points, you won't be able to add any dining plan (free or not).

For DVC members, the dining plan may be added anytime before 48 hours prior to arrival and in a recent change of rules of the road, must be paid for at the time the plan is added (it used to be that you paid for the dining plan at check-in).

Actually, I rentend some points for a trip in January, and the point owners just added the dining plan for us. So unless something has changed since the beginning of the year, you can rent points and get the DDP added. However, the other posters are right. It won't be free.
