Leaving in 5 days!!! This should hype me up even more! So what are some of the little things you like that make your trip complete? :mickey:

Mine are more of the minor things...

The attraction posters under the Walt Disney World Railroad.

The barnyard smell of the monorails. :eek2:

The smell of Rome burning inside Spaceship Earth.

The organ music from the Haunted Mansion.

The corny jokes from the Jungle Cruise.

The pre-show for Muppets 4D.

The first part of Grand Fiesta Tour, going through the jungle, then passing the volcano and San Angel Inn.

The loading dock for Pirates of the Caribbean.

The jazz music from the Tower of Terror queue.

Smelling the roasted almonds, and waffle cones at the Magic Kingdom.

The prairie scene from Living with the Land.

The drop in the dark on Splash Mountain.

Flying over London on Peter Pan.

Always trying to see Brer Frog while waiting in line.

Riding Tomorrowland Transit Authority, mainly for the spiel. I'm not sure if I'll like this new one.

Smelling all the scents in Soarin.

Eating at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater and the San Angel Inn.

Didn't take long for the Dole Whip to make the list! :papple: I love 'em too.

Just off the top of my head, I love:

The smell of POTC, particularly the queue.

The rush of anticipation as RnR is about to take off "3! . . . 2! . . .1!", followed by the rush of adreneline when you rocket off and into that first loop. :D WHEW!

The lobby of the Poly.

Frozen lemonade in AK.

Hidden Mickeys. :mickey:

The background music in all of the parks -- especially Tomorrowland and Adventureland. I can enjoy just sitting and listening in any of the countries at EPCOT.

Doom Buggies! :hmghost:

Crispy honey chicken and pork egg rolls at Yak & Yeti's CS -- yum!!

Illuminations -- ok, technically this is not a "small thing", but I still LOVE it!

Riding Primeval Whirl with my youngest DS -- his first and still favorite coaster.

Riding any of the boats -- MK to Poly or WL; POR to DTD; heck, maybe even the ferry from the TTC.

Enjoying the piano player outside of Casey's.

Seeing other people who "get it" and understand what WDW is about. They are usually strolling along, smile on their face, Dole Whip in hand, talking about the small things they love so much.

The smell of the Main St. Bakery
The smell of the water
The first sight of the castle
Getting on Magical Express - it's the official start of VACATION!!!
The feel of the warm air on my skin (we're going end of October - so I'm thinking more of dusk)
The Margarita bar in Downtown Disney:marg:

For me its -
The smell (from the minute I get off the plane)
Corn Dog nuggets from Casey's Corner
The feeling you get when you first enter MK and see main street and the Castle
Boat ride from POFQ to DTD
Riding the tea cups with my neice and feeling
Seeing others enjoy themselves
Waking up at 3am from Jet Lag the first few days

Entrance music at Epcot.

Being on Main Street a few minutes after opening, and after the rush of people has gone by. It's clean....still wet from being washed off, with the early sun hitting the pavement.

Cinderella Castle in morning light.

My favorites:

All the unique smells in each park and resort

That tingly feeling you get when you first arrive on Disney property and upon entering the first park

Watching people you know are first time visitors...their expressions are priceless:cloud9:

This was from my first memory of the Magic Kingdom (maybe 3 or 4). My dad just got me a popcorn and I proceed to drop it on the ground right away. It went everywhere. Before my dad knew I dropped, a CM was there sweeping it up and another had already gone to get me a new one. This no longer happens.

The monorail rap: "Please step back from the doors..."
The washcloths in our room folded to resemble little Disney animals.
The smell of the dinosaurs in Ellen's Energy Adventure (stale, but memorable).
AK's frozen lemonade.
Root beer floats at Mrs. Potts at MK.
And the best one of all...my DS (6) throwing his arms wide on Main Street and shouting, "WE'RE BACK!!!!!!!"

When we're on the freeway entering Florida and we start seeing billboards for DisneyWorld Tickets.

When we start seeing the miles left to I-4 Junction !!!!

When we can drive with the windows down because it's warm enough! (we go in October when it's about 50 degrees in the sun at home!)

Driving through the WALT DISNEY WORLD sign and waving at the large Mickey that's "waving" me into his world!

All the traffic signs are purple and have black mickey ears!

You are in traffic behind a Disney bus, next to a disney bus and infront of a disney bus!!!

When you pull into the resort, your name is checked off a list and you walk into the lobby for the first time... the gust of cool air when the doors open. Ironically, it's like a warm hug WELCOMING YOU HOME!!!! :cloud9:

The howling wolf sound outside of the HM

Riding the TTA

Enjoying some crepes from France

Walking around DTD at night, just taking in the atmosphere and enjoying a sundae from Ghiridelli's...yummm!!!

The cold purple seats on the Disney Busses!! lol

Park music at every park

Starting a day at Kona Cafe for breakfast, followed by a monorail ride to the MK

That first ride on SSE, Test Track, and Soarin

Walking around World Showcase...allll the way around :D

The Tower of Terror queue

Taking the boat from POFQ to DTD

Enjoying a Mickey Waffle each morning of my trip.. wouldn't be complete without mickey waffles! :mickey:

1) Flower beds and landscaping

2) Background theme music seemingly coming from nowhere and everywhere.

Just a couple of the little things that most people don't focus on but you know they are there if you think about it. These help make the Disney magic to me.

When people duck as the golf ball comes at them on Soarin'

I was just going to say that one!

And the damp, musty smell in the cave-like lines for Splash.

Those are the twist popsicles they sell at the same stands that sell the Mickey ice cream bars. My girls love them too!

Before my dad knew I dropped, a CM was there sweeping it up and another had already gone to get me a new one. This no longer happens.

It does! :mickey: Last time we were at Epcot we bought the girls some of those fruit smoothie drinks right between Mexico and FW. There wasn't anywhere to sit at the time, so we found an out of the way curb and our youngest DD promptly spilled hers and burst into tears. Before I could tell her I'd get her another one, a CM was already bringing one and another was preparing to clean up the spill! :mickey:

A couple of my favorite little things:

Seeing the details they put in the sidewalks. My favorite is the one around Aladdin's Magic Carpet ride with all the jewels set into it.

I also love the music and atmosphere when we walk into our resort, especially the first time.

And, the CMs who hand out all those stickers. It's amazing how happy a sticker can make a little one. :mickey:

I don't disagree that it still happens. I do know that it is definitely no where near the way it was when I was growing up there in the 70s. You simply do not see the ratio of CMs to visitors. They simply cannot keep up. I also remember when all CMs were supposed to be happy. In many cases, this is still valid. It is the ones that are not that make it noticeable.

I just love how in character the CMs can be. Like the HM and ToT. They look so grim and speak so in the part.

My first favorite thing is when the cast member at the Wilderness Lodge says "welcome home" just before I go through the doors to check in. When that is said, all the "stuff" from home falls away and I am definitely HOME.

I really enjoy walking through the castle and looking at the beautiful mosaics on the walls- especially at night when the crowd is light and you can take them all in. I think these are an often overlooked treasure.

Some of mine are:

-The smell of the candy store in MK

-The freshly made cotton candy

-Seeing the "Welcome Home" sign at our resort

-Seeing the "Walt Disney World" sign from the Magical Express

-Seeing the castle in the distance while riding the Magical Express

-Walking into MK for the first time on the trip and seeing the full view of the Castle

-Finding the hidden Mickey's in the parks

-Taking the first bite of your favorite foods

-That rush of cold air when you walk into a building on a hot day

-The teary feeling I get when I think about Disney World

Thinking of all the little things makes me want to go back even more now!

Thanks for a great thread and great posts. It has been such a lift today. Intercot rocks!
Here are mine (altho I share many of those already posted):

getting your Key to the Kingdom
first time you open the door to your "home" at the resort
turning on Resort TV and our girl Stacy
the tone that precededs monorail announcements
the tone before various 'stops' on TTA (hope thats still there)
our first ride (a full lap on the railroad before riding SM)

I was going to add this to the post!

Hearing the whistle in the distance with the faint sound of welcoming music when you get off the bus, monorail or boat.

How giddy with anticipation I am at this point!!!

Details! Details! Details!

Theming in every hotel, restaurant, gift shop, queue, and area of each theme park. There is simply too many to list, or to even remember.

One of my favorite, however, is a set of paintings in the Splash Mountain queue:

Brer Rabbit: Lookin' for Adventure
Brer Fox: Looking' for Trouble
Brer Bear: Just Lookin' :D

Animal Kingdom has the best decor and detail, however, especially in the colorful Discovery Island area. Love it!

-CM chalk or water artwork on the ground
-how all the CMs call the kids either princess or prince
-shouting "hooray!" with my family at the end of the Pooh ride
-all the music

I love these small things:

In Magic Kingdom....I love the beautiful Ibises that inhabit the small swath of green grass right outside Casey's. They gaze on the hot dog eaters with deep disapproval.

In Hollywood Studio...I love the small blue flowers that 'pour' out of the buckets held by the brooms from The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

In EPCOT...I love watching the Glass Artisan working on miniscule works in the Mexico Pavillion.

In Animal Kingdom...I love watching the Tibetan prayer flags gently fluttering in the breeze outside Expedition Everest.

every time we go I have to visit the little shop in England where tucked away in a corner is the carpet bag, lamp, and umbrella from Mary Poppins. This year I'm hoping to get a picture of my kiddo by it.
