Sorry for the rhyme. My father had a hip replaced and is in need of another on the other hip. With all the walking in the parks, he would like to bring his cane. Does anyone know the policy on the airlines for this? Does he have to check it with the suitcases and if so pay for it?

It will need to go through the x-ray machine but he can carry it on the plane with him.

See information from the TSA (http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/specialneeds/editorial_1370.shtm).

My father brought his cane with him the last time he flew. He had no problems with it. I am bringing my rollator(walker) with me on the plane in Dec.

All medical devices are allowed, if needed for on/to plane use. In fact, DH bought a hand-carved cane from Morrocco in Epcot on our last trip, and he was able to carry it on the plane (it was too long for the bag). No one even cared since it was a "medical device."

Just make sure to get your information from the TSA.

I travel with a cane or crutches and a scooter and there has never been a issue or question. There is also no charge for medical equipment.
