someone correct me if im wrong, but if you're staying on DVC points, you can't get free dining. you can add it on and pay for it.

no we cannot get free dining. I have complained about this and for the past 3 years have been told that they would stop offering free dining to the general public....well that hasn't happened yet. They not only didn't stop it but they have added months in the last 2 years.

You can add it onto your ressie. When it first started DVC members couldn't do it at all....

No- you only get free dining by purchasing a MYW package that includes park tickets and room. Disney charges rack rates for the room, therefore giving the dining for "free". The only way you as a member could do it is if you didn't use your points and booked a cash package.

and just for the record Free Dining is rarely a good value when you really take a look at what you are paying for the room at rack rates.

From the Dining Page: Disney Vacation Club Members are eligible to purchase the Disney Dining Plan at the add-on price per Guest when staying at a Disney Vacation Club Resort at Walt Disney World (this excludes Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort and Disney's Vero Beach Resort) with-out purchasing a vacation package.

Members must book the Dining Plan in advance of arrival and it must be purchased for the entire travel party (ages 3 and over) for the entire length of stay.

Disney Vacation Club Members can call Member Services to add the plan to their reservation.

So - you can purchase it separately if you're a DVC member - but you can't get it for free. Bummer.

It's not really "free" to those that get it in non DVC stays. Those folks pay full price non-discounted for the room.

It just goes to show you that there is nothing "free" in this world.
