We are going back to the World on August 9. I have hurt my foot and find out a few days before we leave if I may or may not be in a cast or something. Anyway, I may need to use a wheelchair while in the parks if this is the case. My question is, if I don't need a wheel chair the entire time, if it is a fold up one, can I fold it up while riding the bus (like you would a stroller)? I know it's a strange question but just trying to get my ducks in a row. I don't want the hassle of renting one at the parks every day, especially if my insurance might pay for one on a temp basis. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Intercot! :mickey:

I'm trying to recall if I've ever seen a folded wheelchair on a Disney bus and I don't recall that I have. I would guess you would be able to do this. If you sit in the chair, you would need to enter through the lift and the chair would need to be secured in place with tie-downs.

Thanks Faline! In my many many trips to Disney, I don't recall ever seeing it either. If I do have to have some sort of 'something' on for the trip, I hope I don't have to be in a wheelchair the entire time - just as a back up in case I can't tolerate walking on it all day, especially in the August heat!

I've seen a folded up wheel chair on the bus. In fact, I believe one of the first questions the driver ask is if you're able to leave the chair (electric or otherwise). The one time I remember, the passenger got out of the chair, entered the bus through the rear and sat in a regular seat with the chair folded up next to them.

:welcome: to Intercot!!

I've seen a couple of folks with folded up wheelchairs and it didn't seem to be a problem. No more of an issue that folded up strollers on the buses.

We do it all the time with my mom. No problem at all.

We just went in May. Some of the drivers would ask if mom could transfer. Some of them would allow her to sit in a regular seat and we would hold the wheelchair. This saved time and space. But not all would allow.

Compared to numerous strollers and large bags, I think a wheelchair is fine. I enjoy riding on Disney transportation and people seem to be helpful, overall.
