July 22, 1939 – Actor Terrence Stamp (who portrayed Ramsley in Disney’s 2003 The Haunted Mansion) was born in London, England.
July 22, 1943 – Bobby Sherman, singer-actor who turned EMT officer for the L.A. police Department, and was a member of “The Teen Idols” who performed at Disney’s-MGM Studios in 1998 was born in Ca.
July 22, 1947 – Actor-writer-director Albert Brooks, the voice of Marlin in the 2003 “Finding Nemo,” was born in Beverly Hills, Ca.
July 22, 1949 – Academy Award winner, songwriter Alan Menken, known for his work on Disney’s “The Little Mermaid”, “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin”, and “Pocahontas”, was born in New Rochelle, N.Y.
July 22, 1955 – The Candy Palace opened on Main Street in Disneyland.
July 22, 1955 – The “Rocket to the Moon” attraction opened in Tomorrowland at Disneyland. (Closed Sept. 5, 1966)
July 22, 1955 – Actor Willem Dafoe, the voice of Gill in the 2003 “Finding Nemo,” was born in Appleton, Wisconsin.
July 22, 1963 – Tex Beneke and his orchestra, featuring Ray Eberle, Paula Kelly, and The Modernaires, performed at Disneyland for the first of a six day engagement.
July 22, 1967 – Irene Bedard, the voice of Pocahontas in Disney’s 1995 film, was born in Anchorage, Alaska.
July 22, 1986 – Floyd Gottfredson, the man who gave Mickey Mouse his comic strip personality, passed away at his Southern California home.
